Two Australian warships visit Jakarta

Jakarta (IndonesiaMandiri) - Located at the Jakarta International Container Tread (JICT) II dock at Tanjung Priok Jakarta, Kasal Admiral TNI Siwi Sukma Ajie and Lantamal III Jakarta Commander Laksma TNI Denih Hendrata received the visit of two warships from Australia, HMAS Canberra (FFG 02) and HMAS NewCastle (FFG 06). The arrival of the two ships as part of the 2019 Indo-Pacific endeavor mission aims to deepen Australia's cooperation with Regional security forces, where the final part of the mission is conducting disaster and military training activities with Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam ( 5/18).

In addition to military cooperation, it also strengthens deeper friendship relations between Indonesia and Australia in a variety of security issues, combating terrorism, maritime security, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, peace-keeping cooperation and the defense industry. Please note, the HMAS Canberra Battleship (FFG 02), commanded by Capt Asley Papp, CSC, made in September 2009 then inaugurated on November 28, 2014, is a Helicopter Dock landing type warship based at Fleeet Base East, with dimensions of 230.82 m, width 32.0 m, draft 7.08 m and weight of 27,500 tons, besides that it also has a max speed of 20 knots with 358 personnel and has a cruise capacity of 9,000 nm and is equipped with a main weapon system of sophisticated weapons / defense equipment.
